The Toyota Innova Crysta could be nearing the end of its journey in India, as multiple credible reports suggest the diesel MPV may be phased out around March 2027. While Toyota has not officially confirmed a discontinuation date, reports indicate the upcoming CAFE 3 fuel-efficiency norms could make it difficult for heavier diesel-only vehicles like the Crysta to continue in their current form. As of now, the Innova Crysta remains on sale in India and is still listed on Toyota’s official website.
The Innova Crysta continues to be one of the most trusted MPVs in the country, especially among large families, business owners, and fleet operators. Its strong 2.4-litre diesel engine, rear-wheel-drive setup, spacious cabin, and legendary reliability have helped it maintain demand even after the arrival of the more modern Innova Hycross. Toyota had reportedly planned to discontinue it earlier, but sustained customer demand and supply constraints for the Hycross extended the Crysta’s lifecycle.
If the Crysta is eventually discontinued, Toyota is expected to shift focus completely toward petrol-hybrid models like the Innova Hycross, with reports also hinting at a more affordable lower-spec Hycross for commercial buyers. For now, buyers who still prefer a rugged diesel MPV can continue purchasing the Innova Crysta, but its future now appears limited as the Indian market moves toward cleaner and more efficient technologies.
